The intervertebral discs are located between two vertebrae and consist of an outer annulus fibrosus which surrounds a central nucleus pulposus. . A herniated disc occurs when the nucleus pulposus or the “jelly” tears through the annulus fibrosus and the material may impinge on a neural structure causing pain, and numbness in the surrounding area. 😭Many people may have a herniated disc and not show any symptoms.🤔 .
